The Concert, LDAP, Python and life in general.

So, I went to the {“Ralph Mayers”,”Kaizer”,”Dandy Warholes”}-concert here the
other day with my neighbor. Somehow it seemed like the two first bands
payed the good Uka-folks kroner*(sqr-feet-used*minutes).
Either that or Ralph Mayers and Kaizers had a running bet on which band
could stay the most of the floor and on their instruments and or crates.

Musically the two first bands wasn’t all that, Ralphs with just one drum beat
throughout the whole hour, and Kaizers which was only one huge sound.
By far, Dandy was the one with the best sound, but after one hour I thought they
started repeated themselves. But to their defense it seemed like they had planned
material for one hour only.
All in all, okay, but not super.

On the Python/LDAP side I’ve started hacking together a simple
little script which gets the set of users from LDAP and another
one from SQL ( not implemented yet, but coming there ) and
prints out the diff. between those two.

The scaring bit is that I’m beginning to be quite productive in
python, and I’m starting to like her. ( Please don’t tell
my C/ASM friends that )

Next: Implement a way to extract all the users from MySQL. Pondering
upon using SQLObject
which seems quite sexxxy.

First Degree Down.

This Monday I finished my Bachelor of Computer Science at NITH, which is my first official degree of any kind.
We started the Monday with the presentation of our project, where we got A, then the project team went for dinner at Druen. Sat there for some time before we met up with the rest of the class for some party time.

For those who counts, I got all A’s this semester except one B in Vector Calculus.

Pictures of the presentation can be found here

Oh, and while I’m still blogging, I’ve written a little CLI tool for checking the amount of players online on a Wolfeinstein server, you can download the latest version from here

Patches will be accepted ;)

Happy summer vacation everyone and I’ll see some of you at linuxTag in a week or so.
Kenneth

Awww, finally returned home from LinuxTag :(

Well, as Stacato said, every events has its end, and this is the end for linuxTag 2005. I came home yesterday at around 21.00 after spending 20 minutes at the Gardermoen Airport waiting for my luggage ( You see, except the girls, everything is better in Germany. We were out of the airport after 5 mins at STR ).

After stealing the pictures from Stacato and Frohike and mirroring them here I’m feeling a closure to the ufiemeet, and I must say that it’s been a whole lot of fun meeting the persons in real :)

Over at the linuxTag I saw a lot of interesting stuff like the IBM Cell Processor and a lot of many other things. The only thing I’m complaining about is that the two presentations that I wanted to attend were running at the same time :(

Well, it’s been a great time and I hope I can attend the linuxTag next year, so I can meet the German/Swiss/American ufies once again.

Kenneth
BTW, the German girls wasn’t all that bad at all. Just not up to Norwegian standards

Memes

It struck me that I don’t have any memes in my blog,
so here they are:

What Video Game Character Are You? I am Kung Fu Master.I am Kung Fu Master.

I like to be in control of myself. I dislike crowds, especially crowds containing people trying to kill me. Even though I always win, I prefer to avoid fights if possible. What Video Game Character Are You?

In fear of being sentimental :)

So, I’m blogging about this one early in fear of not being able to tomorrow :)

As Stacato so well put it, “You’re leaving hotel mama?!?”. Tomorrow I’m packing my stuff and leaving to Trondheim,
and the Norwegian University of Technology and Science(NTNU) .
Read my entry here.

I’ve been using the last couple of days to relax and meeting up with some friends that I wont see for about half an year, and coded some stuff on bmp2. Meanwhile my mom have bought me “your first IKEA kit”,
She tried to get me up around 10ish today to go IKEA shopping, but as I’ve always said, let the people do what they are best to. In this case, my mom shopping, and me, continue sleeping.
Besides, it seems like my mom really likes shopping stuff for apartments and houses, unlike her son.

I’ll take the trip up north tomorrow, Thursday 11Th with the whole family. That will leave me about one week to get to know the place and the friendly locals before my school starts.
Never been to Trondheim before, so I guess I’ll need the time to get familiar. Or at least familiar enough so I’ll find my way to the school at the first day without getting late.

I’m guessing this will be my last post from Fjerdingby, Norway in quite a while
The sad part wont be leaving home though, well that too, but all the people that I’ll leave behind. I will get back here during the vacations though, but that will be far between, mostly around Christmas- and Summer vacation.
On the other side, moving up there without knowing anyone, forcing me to get another set of friends could only do me good. Or so I guess.

Now, if there is someone reading this blog that knows about what to do/where to go in Trondheim, please let me know about this, posts some comments. And as I’ve said before, if I find out that anyone has been in Trondheim without giving me a visit, …..

So, Fjerdingby,everybody.
I’ll see you in half a year, maybe sooner ( I have a concert to attend ). Meanwhile don’t do anything I wouldn’t have done.

Happy traveling,
Kenneth

I challenge you.

In follow-up to Stacato’s 80’s porno producer style,
here, I’ve decided to fully take it out X-Mas style:

iAudio X5 arrived.

Yay, I finally got myself a Mp3 player.
More exact the iAudio X5 mp3/ogg/flac/mpeg1-4 player, so if you yell at me and I don’t answer any more, this is why.
You can find pictures of it here

Concert with Dream Theatre

So I saw Dream Theatre play in Oslo Spektrum today. And needless to say
they was great!.
To celebrate their 20th year as a band they played 1 or 2 songs from each
album and the whole Octavarium album, totaling 3 hours in playtime.

I’m to tired to write more now.. Will continue the post tomorrow.
Kenneth

Faith in humanity returns.

As long as there are people like this

( Logic ^ Homework ) -> Boredom

Been a long time since last.

So, today I sat down with my Logic homework again and proved a couple of interesting things. One of my groundbreaking discoveries was that the old Norwegian song “My hat it has three connectors, and if it doesn’t have three connectors it’s not my hat” is actually true. ( Much to the enjoyment of my fellow flatmates )

Besides that I’ve learned a trick for when I am to start selling circuits, I made a simple ~(a or ~b) Didn’t find the upside down ^ that I use into ((a|a)|(a|a)|(b|b)|(b|b)|(b|b)|(b|b) which if I sell one circuit for 10$ would earn me 110$ instead of 20$..
So now you understand why I took logic classes :)

Besides that, I signed up for some Gnome Loving, hacking on GEdit for the 2.13 release, just writing some simple encoding dialog.
